How to think creatively? How to come up with good ideas?
Research has shown that natural creativity peaks at approximately age five. After that, we start to think more rationally. By the age of 17, we only use approximately 10% of our creative ability, and by adulthood, that number has dropped even lower, to an average of 5%.
I have prepared a test for you to see whether or not you’re creative, and we have to realize that creativity is not dependent on intelligence.
In today’s article, we’re going to go over creative thinking process. We will discuss how to think creatively and how to come up with good ideas.

- If something doesn’t work, do you give up or keep going?
”It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.”
– Charles Darwin
These people look for sources to support their ideas. They also like to hear opposing views. Sometimes they will investigate areas where others would not think to look for.
- When you have an idea, do you do your research?
- Do you look at the pros and cons?
”Life’s too short to hang out with people who aren’t resourceful.”

What characteristics inhibit creativity and how to overcome them?

4 Step Creative Thinking Process: How to Think Creatively and Come Up with Good Ideas
STEP 1 – Concentration
How to think creatively? During this step, you need to give your full attention to the situation. In order to give your full attention, you have to reduce distractions and eliminate noises.
Also, consider your health. When you are not feeling well, try to avoid tasks requiring intense concentration, because health problems interfere with your ability to think creatively.
Action: Sit and think!
”We both (Charlie Munger and Warren Buffett) insist on a lot of time being available almost every day to just sit and think. That is very uncommon in American business. We read and think.”

STEP 2 – Break
During this step, you take a break after a period of intense concentration to allow time for your subconscious to work on the problem.
Most people have said that their best ideas come after a time of thinking and a good night’s sleep. This combination of mental effort followed by mental relaxation is very important.
Action: Take a break, get plenty of rest, and take part in sports activities.
STEP 3 – Illumination
The illumination step is when an idea first occurs to you. Often this will occur at an unexpected time or place. An idea may occur to you while you are working on something else, relaxing, eating, or even sleeping.
Make sure you always keep a notepad with you or your phone, because it is important to write it down immediately.
Action: When an idea occurs, jot it down in your notepad.
STEP 4 – Evaluation
This step is all about evaluation. Look at this idea from all perspectives – pros and cons.
